Duckweed is not the silver bullet to solve climate change, but is a short-term solution whilst reforestation takes place and fossil fuel usage decreases. Trees are the ideal plant form of carbon storage, because after seven years of growth, they are highly efficient at forming solid carbon. Trees not only look good, but enhance the habitat potential for so many life forms on our amazing planet.
However, that first seven years of a tree’s life, to reach effective carbon capture capability, is critical. It is not just a case of planting seedlings or young saplings, but also of looking after them, in order to ensure they reach that critical stage at seven years, whereby they can continue to extend to full lifetime.
One benefit of growing duckweed personally at home or at schools and colleges, is that it also allows us to realise just how much carbon is involved when we use fossil fuels. Since we cannot see the CO2 gas concentration going up in the air, (which we could if it were for example a red gas), it means we are unalarmed by its increase. The more CO2 in the atmosphere the hotter the planet becomes. If the air was getting more pink as world temperatures are rising, we would all be calling out to our governments that if they know the red gas is the cause, why on earth aren’t they reducing that causative red gas. The fact that we can’t see CO2, and that in fact varying amounts of CO2 are imperceptible to ANY of our five senses that protect us, means we are only alerted by the secondary effect of severe weather disruption.
Climate change denial comes only from those whom have greatest access to the huge profit that fossil fuel gives them. Their greed will kill us.
To solve this, the rest of humanity, needs to unite in the same numbers as those that use the greed merchants’ fossil fuels. Yes, that’s you and me! We have to make it clear to those that benefit most, that producing their potentially deadly poison gas for a living Earth, for reasons of greed, is unacceptable and frankly, criminal to most of humanity.
How, though, do we get that united message over to Governments worldwide to rein in the power of the oil cartels. Our world is so disunited. We are so divided on so many subjects.
However, on this subject of climate change, most of us want a long-term survivable solution for the future of our next generations. Care for family and community is as powerful as those influential greed merchants. We just have to find the means to unite in single voice to call a halt to their selfish greed. A potential means to do that is to find a way to express that overwhelming desire for a safe, sustainable future for all of us, and life as we know and love on this amazing planet of ours. That potential means is represented here by the Earth Restorers.
Becoming a member needs to be free to all and safe to all and yet unite us all who care. That is why we as Earth Restorers are structured as we are. We are united in care and concern and potentially are as great in number as those who use the greed merchants’ fossil fuels.

Let’s show ourselves, simply, visibly, at a reproducible point available across the world and relevant to the subject. A repeatable visible action by all of us who care. An action that is non-disruptive, non-damaging, carbon neutral, free and highly visible.
On 24th July simply tie a coloured ribbon, bought or home-made, to your nearest traffic light post. By doing this you are ‘adopting’ your local traffic light and ‘transforming’ it into a flashing beacon whereby
the RED light means ‘STOP!’,
the AMBER light means ‘THINK’
and the GREEN light means ‘GREEN PLANET’.
We then have a highly colourful, visual flashing beacon, with its message to our leaders to act for the good of all and act truly united and decisively to prevent climate catastrophe and repair natural habitats. A world potentially visibly united for the good of all.
This is possible for the vast majority of us, those who truly care, to show ourselves as a VISIBLE VOICE to our so-called leaders. A VISIBLE VOICE for love and action.
