What follows is the only solution to global warming that we have ready to be put into effect, right now.
In this day and age, no matter how good, or essential for survival, an idea is, it won’t happen unless it is economically viable.
The strength, influence and power of the fossil fuel industry means it will always have the ears of any government, whose main concern is economic survival.
It is easy to prove that DUCKWEED is the theoretical answer to climate change (see this website and all the scientific articles available on the web). The new challenge is to make it economically viable. To store solid carbon in blocks for man-made peat bogs or construction materials for the building industry or recyclable packaging must all have a positive economic benefit.
Presently, no-one takes economic (financial) responsibility for the damage wreaked on the planet by a changing climate due to CO2 being produced as a biproduct from fossil fuel usage. The only way forward is that the general population of the world and governments across the globe, must recognise how duckweed production and storage save us by sequestering enough carbon in time to prevent irreversible global warming.
The Climate Coalition has spent time, effort and funds developing an effective lobbying ear. However, the money, power and influence of the fossil fuel industry will ALWAYS be stronger, unless population and government realise and are confident in the solution.
The simplicity of the duckweed solution is its strength. Making the population aware of the possible (and probably the only) solution now, we have the one way to challenge that fossil fuel industry power.
Government, buoyed by public awareness and opinion, can force a financial toll on the negative effect of fossil fuel sale and usage. A direct charge to fund production of duckweed and of its retention in solid form, either to build man-made peat bogs in disused quarries or for construction industry products or packaging/paper products for recycling; is required to make this solution economically viable and thus possible in the world today.
We need more tree planting (and stopping rainforest destruction) on land, more mangroves planted on seashores and sea grass beds in sea shallows. We need to switch to non-carbon-based energy supplies like solar, wind, wave, tidal and nuclear. We need effective storage of energy in battery, hydro and compressed gas form.
MOST OF ALL NOW we need to get carbon out of the air by the proven, free, effective, natural means of cellulose production in vast tonnage. DUCKWEED SOLVES THAT.
