It is because we need to unify and gather together all those concerned individuals with knowledge and practical experience and enthusiasm to act on climate change.
However, there are three main reasons that we have made little progress in the last 20 years, indeed CO2 levels in the atmosphere have continually increased year on year and the threat of cataclysmic irreversible climate change and habitat destruction draws ever closer.
So how do we stop this descent into Climate Armageddon? We need to recognise the following three reasons we have made poor progress thus far.
Firstly, the fossil fuel industry is more powerful and influential than a single superpower state, so presently always has the final say with Governments.
Secondly, our fossil fuel production and usage across the globe is on an industrialised scale.
Thirdly, we can’t see CO2 in the atmosphere, because if we could, as its concentration increases, we would be alarmed sufficiently to make it a priority to act to reduce it on an individual and collective level.
So how do we reverse and solve this?
Firstly, we need to create a mandate that is effective in getting our Goverment’s priority attention.
Secondly, we need to industrialise the solution to the same extent we have the problem.
There is one special ‘Goldilocks’ plant that we can do that with.
Thirdly, we need to make carbon capture individually visible and therefore make it quantifiable and personal CO2 production individually relevant to each one of us.
Duckweed does all this. By learning how we have created the problem and about how this one tiny plant, if industrialised in propagation and solid carbon retention, can do this in time, we have the practical doable solution.
